Physical Therapy
It is important to understand that often times where the pain presents is not the area that needs to be treated. The pain may be due to that area compensating and being over-worked from another area not pulling its weight. Our rehabilitation program includes strength, flexibility and agility training as well as training focused on coordination of body parts and motion to prepare the individual to return to full participation.
Our physical therapists use an individualized approach, in conjunction with special modalities to properly address pain and discomfort.
- Electric Muscle Stimulation
- Manual therapy
- Muscular Strength and Endurance Training
- Neuromuscular Rehabilitation
- Therapeutic Rehabilitative Exercise
- Therapeutic Ultrasound
Massage Therapy
You probably know what a knot feels like: an area that feels uncomfortable, stiff, dense, and maybe even tender. Indeed, “knots” are essentially synonymous with trigger points, although they may not always be overtly obvious or noticeable.
Massage therapy is the manual manipulation of soft body tissues (muscle, connective tissue, tendons and ligaments) to enhance a person’s health and well-being. There are many types of massage therapy methods (also called modalities). People seek massage therapy for a variety of reasons; for example, to reduce stress and anxiety, to relax muscles, to rehabilitate injuries, to reduce pain and to promote overall health and wellness.
Diagnostic Testing
Diagnostic testing is an important part of care both pre and post treatment. Testing can help confirm disease on symptomatic patients along with screening for asymptomatic patients. Our clinical diagnosis focuses on determining the cause of spasm pain, neck pain or any other symptoms the patient may have.
X-rays
The use of X-rays is crucial to the care during treatment. X-rays show any instability you may have in your spine as well as any bone abnormalities that may be present due to degenerative changes.
X-rays are used to rule out or discover the presence of arthritis, fractures or trauma occurring due to injury.
EMG/NCV Studies
A nerve conductive test that examines the sensory nerves and muscles. In order to evaluate a patients’ nerve response, this is performed within our facility.for an overall diagnosis, it is vital to rule out any neurological problems and to make sure that motor strength and reflexes are conducting well. It often reveals any possible nerve damage or pinched nerves that a patient may be suffering from.
Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI)
This test is performed outside our facility. At times, the doctor may recommend receiving one to show all the smaller tissues and anatomical structures in each patient. It is most commonly used to reveal a disc bulge or herniated disc.
Diagnostic Ultrasound (DUS)
DUS is also called sonography or diagnostic medical sonography, is an imaging method that uses high-frequency sound waves to produce images of structures within your body. The images can provide valuable information for diagnosing and treating a variety of diseases and conditions.
Ergonomics
Ergonomics is the study of people at work and how the stress of work affects the body. The goal of this study is to reduce stress on the body, prevent injuries, and eliminate musculoskeletal conditions associated with the spaces daily tasks in the workplace. This can be done by making adjustments to work spaces, controls, tools, lighting, equipment, and displays to make sure they fit an employees needs and encourage proper movement and posture.
Addressing ergonomics will help relieve pain, avoid injury, and encourage more efficient work.
Sports Medicine and Pain Management
Sports Medicine deals with various conditions and illnesses that result from physical activity. Both seasoned athletes and new exercisers can experience a range of issues whether from single accidents or prolonged wear- and -tear. Our treatment is specified by type of sport and location of injury to provide a targeted and effective treatment strategy.
Trigger Point Injection
Trigger point injection therapy is a treatment used to relieve the pain and stiffness caused by trigger points in your muscles. In order to relieve trigger point tenderness, special injections containing “anesthetics” or “corticosteroids” are injected directly into each trigger point. These injections “shut down” the trigger points, providing quick and immediate relief from pain.
